Karitane Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan

Karitane Innovate RAP Web Version FINAL Page 01

Burbangana is proud to have partnered with Karitane in the development of its Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan.

Our collaboration began in 2022, when we were engaged to support the creation of Karitane’s Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan. Since then, it has been inspiring to witness Karitane’s ongoing commitment to reconciliation—building respectful relationships, fostering cultural safety, and ensuring that their services remain accessible and supportive for First Nations families.

The final design of the Innovate RAP was developed by our in-house graphic designer, Kristina Taylor. Inspired by artwork commissioned by Karitane and its partners, the design reflects key themes of community, family, parenthood, and partnership—central to Karitane’s mission and values.

Karitane's Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan was launched in March 2025.

Burbangana was commissioned by Karitane in 2022 to assist the organisation to develop its Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). We were very proud to work alongside the Karitane team in the co-creation of their first RAP.

Our in-house graphic designer, Kristina Taylor, created the final design based on artwork inspired by a collection of individual mosaic tiles created by Aboriginal Artist, Shareen Clayton, children in Karitane’s Lil’ Possums Aboriginal playgroup and Bonnyrigg Public School, NSW.

Ageing reports – Kempsey, NSW

Growing Old in Kempsey Artwork February 2019

This report outlines the key issues discussed at two workshops in 2018 commissioned by the Kempsey Place Plan Team, NSW Department of Family and Community Services. These workshops followed up earlier work undertaken by Moreton Consulting (now Burbangana Group) in 2015 and 2016.

The artwork featured here and throughout the Growing Old in Kempsey report was drawn by Stephen McLeod during the Joint Action Planning Workshop held in South West Rocks on 3 December 2018. We are grateful for Stephen’s permission to share it with you.

Summary cover

In 2015 the NSW Department of Family and Community Services (FACS) engaged Moreton Consulting to undertake a deep community consultation on the needs of Aboriginal people in Kempsey as they age.

A local advisory group of Aboriginal people, mainly from relevant services, was set up to co-design and oversee the consultation. 30 Aboriginal people were interviewed across nine locations in the Kempsey district. In addition, 14 people from the 9 services on the advisory group were interviewed. This is what we found.
